- In force since
- 13 Dec 2024
Regulation (EU) 2023/988 applies to every consumer product sold into the EU.
- Member States
- 27
Warnings must appear in the language of each country a listing sells into.
- Required disclosures
- 4
Article 19 names them: manufacturer, EU Responsible Person, product identity with a picture, warnings.
- Amazon's fix window
- 48h
Time to correct a flagged listing before it is suppressed in the EU.
Four things every online listing must show
Article 19 of the GPSR lists them. Every marketplace asks for the same four, each in its own form. Ariadne keeps them in one record.
- (a)
Who made it
Manufacturer name, registered trade name or trademark, postal address and email.
- (b)
Who answers for it in the EU
When the manufacturer is outside the EU, the name and contact details of the Responsible Person.
- (c)
Which product it is
Identification of the product including a picture of it, its type and any other identifier.
- (d)
How to use it safely
Any warning or safety information, in the language of the Member State the listing sells into.
From one record to every listing
Add the manufacturer once
Every product from the same factory reuses the record, so a 40-SKU catalog is one form, not forty.
Add products and warnings
SKU, batch, picture, and a warning per language. Ariadne holds back anything with a required field empty.
Generate for every listing
The same disclosure block, ready to paste into Amazon, eBay, Etsy and your own store.
Held back from publishing. 4 required fields are empty:
- EU Responsible Person name
- EU Responsible Person address
- EU Responsible Person email
- Product image (Art. 19(c) requires a picture in the listing)
One record instead of four forms
Storefront plugins solve one store. Sellers on two or more marketplaces still re-type the same data into each one.
| By hand | Storefront plugin | Ariadne | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon, eBay, Etsy and your store from one record | Re-keyed per marketplace | One store only | |
| Manufacturer details reused across every SKU | Usually | ||
| Missing Responsible Person or picture caught before publishing | Some | ||
| Warnings stored per language, matched to the listing's country | Varies |
Questions sellers ask first
Anything else, write to hello@ariadnedata.com.
Does Ariadne act as my EU Responsible Person?
No. Ariadne generates and organises the data; it never takes on the Responsible Person role or any product liability. If your manufacturer is outside the EU you still need a named EU-established party. You enter their details once and Ariadne places them in every listing that needs them.
I only sell on one Shopify store. Do I need this?
Probably not. A storefront plugin covers a single store well. Ariadne is built for sellers who list the same products on two or more of Amazon, eBay, Etsy and their own store, and are tired of typing the same manufacturer details into each one.
What exactly is in the generated block?
The four disclosures Article 19 of Regulation (EU) 2023/988 requires for distance sales: manufacturer identity and contact, the EU Responsible Person where the manufacturer is outside the EU, product identification including a picture, and warnings in the buyer's language. Plus the traceability and batch identifiers Article 9 requires on the product itself.
Which marketplaces are covered at launch?
Amazon, eBay, Etsy and Shopify. The disclosure is plain text, so it pastes into any listing field or compliance section a marketplace provides.
When does it launch, and what will it cost?
Ariadne is in development. The waitlist hears first, with pricing, before anything goes public. No card is taken now and joining commits you to nothing.
